Memorial photo blankets

These are for someone who is gone. The designs are deliberately quiet: a photograph, a name, usually a date, and space around them. No slogans, no clutter, nothing that turns grief into decoration.

People order them for a parent or grandparent, for a partner, for a child, and very often for a dog or cat who was part of the household for a long time. Some are bought for the person's own home; many are bought for someone else who is grieving.

Working with an old photograph

Memorial orders almost always involve the photo that exists rather than the photo you would choose. That is normal, and it is worth knowing what can and cannot be done with it.

• A printed photograph can be used if it is photographed or scanned well — flat, in daylight, with no shadow across it and no angle. A phone photo taken at a slant cannot be straightened back into a usable file.
• Scan at the highest setting your scanner offers if you have one. It makes a larger difference than anything else.
• Older digital photos are often small. A file from a phone or camera a decade ago carries far less detail than one from today. That does not rule it out — it usually means choosing 30 x 40 in or 50 x 60 in rather than the largest size.
• Send it to us first if you are unsure. Email the file and we will tell you which size it can carry. We would rather say so beforehand than have you open the box and be disappointed.

Names and dates

Everything you type is reproduced exactly, including accents and non-Latin scripts. Two dates separated by a dash is the most common choice; a single date, a name alone, or a short line they used to say all work. We do not adjust the wording, and we do not correct spelling — please read it back once before you pay, because this is not something anyone wants to get wrong.

Choosing for someone else

If you are buying for a grieving family member rather than yourself, a few things are worth thinking about:

• Sherpa is the better choice. It is heavier and warmer, and a memorial blanket is usually something someone sits under rather than displays.
• 50 x 60 in is the size most people want — large enough to use properly, not so large that it becomes bedding.
• Ask before you choose the photograph if you can. The image someone wants to see every day is not always the one you would pick.
• Timing is yours to judge. Production takes 3–5 business days before shipping, so a blanket ordered for a specific date needs ordering well ahead of it.

Care

Made to be used, not stored. Cold wash, gentle cycle, low heat or hang to dry. It will be washed many times over the years and is built for that.

Choose a design, pick a size and a finish, and place the order. For a personalized design, enter your photos and wording exactly as you want them to appear; a proof is available on request — leave a note with your order or email info@hakhatu.com with your order number, and we will send one before production begins. Illustrated designs are printed exactly as shown.

Production: 3–5 business days, Monday to Friday. Delivery after production: 5–10 business days in the United States, 4–15 business days to the other countries we ship to. In unusual circumstances — customs, severe weather, peak season — delivery can stretch to 20–25 business days. These are estimates, not guarantees.

Looking after it

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colours. Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry. Do not bleach. Do not iron the design. Follow the care label supplied with the item; product-specific instructions take priority over this general guidance.

If something is wrong

Contact us within 14 days of delivery if the item is the wrong size, differs from the design shown or the details you submitted, or arrives damaged. Email info@hakhatu.com with your order number and clear photos. Once verified, we replace or refund at no cost to you, and in most cases you do not need to send anything back.

Items personalized with details you entered — a misspelled name, a wrong date, or a size chosen at checkout — cannot be taken back, so please review every field before you pay. To cancel, email us within 12 hours of ordering.
