A blanket built around your dog

These designs are made for one dog and their name. You upload a photo, type what you call them, and the layout is built around that — not around a stock silhouette that vaguely resembles the breed.

People buy these for adoption anniversaries, for a dog's first winter in a new home, for the person in the family who is closest to the dog, and — often — for the year after a dog has died, when a photo on a phone is no longer enough.

Photographing a dog well enough

Dogs are harder to photograph than people, and the reasons are specific:

  • Dark coats swallow detail. Black and dark brown dogs need light coming from the front, not behind. A dog photographed against a bright window usually arrives as a silhouette.
  • Get down to their height. A photo taken from standing turns the snout into the largest thing in the frame and shrinks the eyes. Crouching changes the picture completely.
  • Still beats action. A running dog is a lovely memory and a blurry file. Motion blur that is invisible on a phone becomes obvious at 50 x 60 in.
  • Outdoor shade is the easiest light there is. Not direct sun, not indoors at night.
  • Watch the ears. Cropped tight, tall ears are the first thing to get cut. Leave room above the head.

If the only photo you have is an old one, or the last one, send it to us before ordering. We will tell you which size it can carry rather than let you find out after it ships.

Their name

The name is reproduced exactly as you type it. That includes the spelling you actually use rather than the one on the paperwork — plenty of these blankets carry a nickname no vet has ever heard. Nicknames, second names and short phrases all work; very long text simply sets smaller.

Sizes for dogs, and for people

  • 30 x 40 in — the size most people buy when the blanket is for the dog: a crate, a car seat, the corner of the sofa that is already theirs.
  • 50 x 60 in — for a person, with the dog on it. The usual choice for a gift.
  • 60 x 80 in — a bed-sized blanket. Use your sharpest photo at this size.

Fleece is lighter and easier to wash often, which matters if the dog will actually be lying on it. Sherpa is warmer and heavier, and is the better gift of the two.

Two dogs, or more

These layouts hold one dog. If you want several in one piece, the collage blankets are built for that — separate frames, one dog in each, so no one gets cropped out.

If they are gone

Many of these orders are for a dog who has died. There is no separate process for that, and you do not need to explain anything to us. If you would rather the design carried a date, or nothing but the name, the memorial designs are quieter and have room for both.

How ordering works

Choose a design, pick a size and a finish, and place the order. For a personalized design, enter your photos and wording exactly as you want them to appear; a proof is available on request — leave a note with your order or email info@hakhatu.com with your order number, and we will send one before production begins. Illustrated designs are printed exactly as shown.

Production: 3–5 business days, Monday to Friday. Delivery after production: 5–10 business days in the United States, 4–15 business days to the other countries we ship to. In unusual circumstances — customs, severe weather, peak season — delivery can stretch to 20–25 business days. These are estimates, not guarantees.

Looking after it

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colours. Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry. Do not bleach. Do not iron the design. Follow the care label supplied with the item; product-specific instructions take priority over this general guidance.

If something is wrong

Contact us within 14 days of delivery if the item is the wrong size, differs from the design shown or the details you submitted, or arrives damaged. Email info@hakhatu.com with your order number and clear photos. Once verified, we replace or refund at no cost to you, and in most cases you do not need to send anything back.

Items personalized with details you entered — a misspelled name, a wrong date, or a size chosen at checkout — cannot be taken back, so please review every field before you pay. To cancel, email us within 12 hours of ordering.
